Implementing Your Plan

Implementation is the process of moving an idea from concept to reality. Another definition would be to put something into effect or action.

In business, engineering and other fields, implementation refers to the building process rather than the design process. Implementation is a key method in achieving any long or short term goals you have in life.

Planning must be done before you begin the implementation process.

Preparation requires a step by step approach to reach the specific goal or goals you want to accomplish. You should have the primary objective as the end point and then break it down into small chunks or steps to get there.

Implementation is your personal map. Some important considerations are:

• How you will achieve your plan

• What is the time-line for accomplishing your desired goals

• How to break down your needs and goals into smaller objectives and tasks

• As you begin to understand each step of the implementation process you’ll become clearer on the amount of effort required to achieve what you’ve set out to do

• While going through the process you should be compiling feedback on how effective and functional your goals are. You may need to tweak and readjust your plan as you move through it

By breaking down large goals into achievable steps your plan becomes easier to accomplish. You want to keep the end goal in site; however the small steps are the ones you want to keep your focus on completing.

Each step should have an expected completion date. This will help to keep you on task and move you closer to what you intend achieve.

In coaching sessions with my clients, we always break large goals into easily manageable steps. This helps the client gain a sense of accomplishment as each step is reached.

It also reduces the fear and feeling of being overwhelmed by believing a particular goal is unachievable or too large. Just like climbing a ladder, each rung gets you closer to the top.

I recommend celebrating every step of success. Doing so helps you to continue building momentum and creates excitement as you realize what you’ve achieved.

Enthusiasm and momentum will help you to accomplish more than you can even imagine. There is nothing you can’t accomplish if you have a good plan and stay on track.

What will you begin to implement today? I’d love to hear your story.
