The dictionary defines roadblock as a temporary installation set up to control or block traffic along a road. As I was reading this the primary word that stood out to me was “temporary”.
Many times in our lives when a roadblock stops us from moving ahead we tend to believe it’s a permanent situation.
What would happen if you decided that a barrier you are currently experiencing is temporary? Looking at a roadblock as a transitory state of affairs gives your mind the opportunity to start thinking about different solutions. In fact the mind is always trying to find answers to problems.
In the early 90’s I found myself in a tough situation and I was about to be evicted from my apartment. I truly felt there was no resolution. I saw roadblocks all around me, including my finances and my career.
I eventually had to sit down and make sense of the role I played in my condition. As I became clear on some of the steps I’d taken to get myself into this circumstance, I also began to come up with solutions to resolve it.
The eviction never happened. I found the resources to get caught up financially and even moved to a better apartment.
Be encouraged to identify temporary roadblocks as they delay your progress. Use these situations to strengthen your resolve to find answers. You’ll find that your mind will become better at searching for resolutions to keep you moving forward.
Know that your faith is always a keystone of support as you take the detour around those temporary roadblocks.
And remember, you have the power to create the life you want.

Love this! I often read from the word of God in Psalm 23 and offer this scripture as comfort to people when they are going through issues in life because most people focus on the Valley of Death but do not realize that they are walking THROUGH IT! So it is not forever and your Blog just made me think of the scripture. thanks for posting this and I pray that you get well soon my love!
Very insightful post, Guy. You know I have had my share of “challenges” in recent years. I have come to see “roadblocks” simply as God’s way of slowing us down — so I now think of these as “rest stops”. Sometimes we get so caught up in “the journey” that we think as long as we are still moving we will “get there”. Then we wonder why we feel empty and tired… As you wisely point out, sometimes being still is the moment when we get to focus on our plan/destiny. When we regroup, we consider where we are at that moment and can recharge and follow the best road for our new journey. Be still and be well. Much love! B
